A Message From Our Section 810 Chair

Mary Schultz

Greetings, Friends in Quality!

As the winter speeds by, your friends at ASQ-Akron-Canton have several solutions to cabin fever.  Why not join us for one of the following events?

Our February dinner meeting on Thursday, 2/21/08, features a full evening on Change Management with Jeff Aiken of Westfield Group.  Jeff will start us off with a workshop illustrating the key components of Change Management through real-life project examples.  Jeff will follow up in his dinner presentation with a more philosophical look at the topic.

Register for this event at ASQ.Akron.Canton@gmail.com.

February and March are the heart of the science fair season, and as in years gone by, we’ll be sponsoring awards for the application of quality techniques in projects at four local science fairs.  If you can share a couple of hours of your time, the judging experience is a very rewarding one.  The energy, enthusiasm and intelligence of our local high schools students is inspiring.  You can register to judge at any or all of the fairs at ASQ.Akron.Canton@gmail.com as well.

You’ll be hearing more from us about our Spring Conference in the next few weeks.  The conference takes place on Friday, March 28.  We’re trying something a little different this year – presenting two ½ day events that you can register for separately or in combination, each with a single theme.  Download the Spring brochure here, and do save the date to enjoy our speakers.

Wishing you warmth and safety through this last “real” winter month,

Mary L. Schultz
2007-2008 Chair
ASQ Akron-Canton Section 810

Opportunities Exist for Section Members

Section 810 welcomes all members to participate in Section activities and events. Volunteer opportunities are available. The time commitments range from a few hours over several months to a few hours per day at our conferences. We have both large and small tasks that will fit your skills and available time. Remember, your participation will earn recertification units towards maintaining ASQ certification in the various Bodies of Knowledge offered by the Society.

If you are interested in getting involved with your ASQ Section, please contact our Section Chair, Mary Schultz.
