Mission Statement:
Provide educational opportunities
in the Quality
field for all ASQ Members and the Akron-Canton community, to aid in the
attainment of an individual’s professional or personal objectives.
Education Committee:
The
Education Program is maintained by a committee
of Section Member volunteers and is presided by an Education Committee
Chair
who represents the Program at the Section Leadership Committee meetings. The Education Committee is
responsible for
long- and short-term planning and for maintaining a curriculum of
courses that
is reviewed periodically for completeness and relevancy.
Dick
Mautz is the Education Committee Chair. The
Committee members are:
Bob
Brigeman, Joe Decker, Bart Hamilton, Scott
Hendricks, Jim Houser, Peter Ishimaru, Nick Koumoutzis, Mary Schultz,
Dilip
Shah and Mike Vachon.
Education Sessions:
Up to three sessions of classes
are offered by the
Education Committee each Program Year. A
Fall Session is targeted to begin in late August/early
September; a Winter Session may begin in
early
January; and a Spring Session is
planned to begin in mid-March. Courses,
typically, are either 10 hours or 20 hours in length, and run over a 5
week to
10 week period, respectively.
Professional Citation Program:
The Education Committee provides
the opportunity to
become recognized by one’s peers at the local level through
Professional
Citation. Requirements include the
completion of various courses offered. Citations
may be attained in three disciplines: Quality
Technology, Quality Engineering, and
Quality Management.
Certification Program:
In conjunction with National's offering of certification
recognition in at least eight unique "bodies of knowledge", the
Education Committee endeavors to provide its Members with appropriate
courses that help to obtain certification. In addition to general
quality-related courses, Committee offers "refresher" classes geared
toward a specific certification "body of knowledge". See the education
program curriculum, found in the yearly Program Calendar, for more
specifics.
