The Society of Professionals Engaged in the Management, Engineering, and Scientific Aspects of Quality and Reliability

Mission

To provide our members with quality leadership through networking, sharing, and collaboration; to provide a forum for learning through our education programs and our conferences; to extend the use of quality tools and techniques to the health care community and to others in the service sector; and to support national programs and the local community with quality services.

Vision

To be a recognized leader for information on quality issues, techniques, and principles

March 26, 2013

QUESTION: What does ASQ certification provide to me, if others without certification are doing the same job??

ANSWER: Quality competition is a fact of life, and the need for a work force proficient in the principles and practices of quality is a central concern of many companies.  ASQ certification has been a mark of excellence for more than 44 years. It is internationally recognized and endorsed by 125 companies.

Certification is an investment in your career and in the future of your employer because it demonstrates that the certified individual has the knowledge to assure the quality of products and services. Certification is a source of professional pride, and demonstrates to your employer, or future employer, that you understand and can apply this knowledge.

Section Officers Elected @ April-2013 Membership Meeting

The Section Leadership Committee (SLC) presented the list of nominees to lead-and-guide the Akron-Canton Section through the 2014 Program Year during the business portion of the April 18th Monthly Membership Meeting @ the 356th Fighter Group Restaurant.

Effective January 01, 2014, ASQ HQ has changed the time period for Section Program Years to January 1st thru December 31st, coinciding with the calendar year; until this change, Section Program Years were established from July 1st thru June 30th.

The following ASQ Akron-Canton Section Members were elected to fill the respective Officer positions of the SLC, with volunteer duties beginning January 01, 2014.

  • Chair:  John Scheftic

  • Vice Chair(s) Peter Ismimaru, Joseph Boyle, Xingdan Li

  • Secretary Frederic Billet

  • Treasurer Michael Marley

The SLC has selected these same Section Members to fill these same duties for the ‘interim’ time period July 01, 2013 thru December 31, 2013.

Again … your Section Leadership Committee encourages Members to consider volunteering as part of theAkron-Canton Section management team. You may contact either myself, or any SLC Member noted on the “Leadership Committee” page of this web site.

Let your SLC know if there is anything that they can do towards helping you achieve your ASQ ‘goals’ for the remainder of 2013, and into 2014. We are here for that purpose.

Michael Marley (ASQ CQE, CQA, CQM/OE)
